Subject: Flange Mounted Tu-Flo 501 on Detroit Diesel Engines

The fiber or non-metallic drive gear used on Detroit Diesel compressors will interfere

with the flange adapter cap screws on the Tu-Flo 501. This interference will cause wear

on the backside of the fiber drive gear and weakening of the gear. This interference

occurs only on the Tu-Flo 501 compressor. For this reason, we recommend the use of

the sintered metal drive gear (Bendix part 293903) on the Tu-Flo 501 compressor. (Note

on catalog pages 01-E-15 and 01-E-17.)
